The site is a totally interactive portal highlighting affiliated institutes, sectors, agendas, projects, energy saving tips, and an idea board- which allows students and inventors alike to submit their ideas and thoughts.
The site includes the latest news updated on a regular basis and a stunning picture and video gallery. It allows you to subscribe for a monthly newsletter. One of the few uncluttered websites that has got concise and accurate information that has got numerous hits from the time it was launched. A must see site as the entire vision of the power and energy sector comes into focus with great clarity. This site is also trilingual to reach all Sri Lankans with ease.
The Objective
To provide an informative website for the general public of Sri Lanka targeting the largest consumer base in the country. The site to be understood and utilized with ease. Provide the consumer with future plans of the ministry, contact details, inquiries, idea generation, awareness and energy conservation, easy access, project status updates, latest happenings all to be included in the website.
The Challenge
The project was a huge task as it needed interaction, awareness of the Ministry functions and coordination with varied personnel at different levels to obtain information and content for the site. The development of a trilingual facility to change menus and content of the entire site. Training to be provided to many individuals who would be constantly updating the site. Being able to capture the attention of the varied visitors to the site while providing key information at a glance. The site was to be developed in 2 weeks.
The Solution
The site was developed using a fully functional Content Management System for ease in updating the website. Tri lingual functionality was built into the site. Develop a comprehensive gallery of images and videos. Using the main slider and the moving carousel we were able to capture different areas at a glance to both captivate and inform the viewers.
