Tissawewa Resthouse, in the ancient city (5 BC) of Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka, has been popular with travelers looking for a style of hospitality which is leisured, caring combined with a setting in the colonial past. The building, with its timbered floors, long open verandahs and cane chairs is much photographed - and has even being used for period film settings.
